Uhhh, I recently returned from a music festival that lasted 4 days, which meant 4 days camping on site with minimal creature comforts and facilities… No problem usually right, but this time I came down with a nasty external hemorrhoid on the second day. Man, was this painful, uncomfortable, awkward, embarrassing – you name it…
I thought there wasn’t much I could do about it except be very careful where and how I sat down… Well, it wasn’t actually that bad in the end because I did some searching around online and found a couple of great resources for home remedies for hemorrhoids and some of the ideas and suggestions they mentioned worked out really great. They soothed the pain and made it bearable for me to get through the rest of the festival in reasonable comfort. The site had a few pointers which seemed a bit unorthodox but in the end worked well.
So as spring approaches I’m sure many of you have already booked your summer festival tickets and many of them will be long weekenders – which means that you’re going to need some camping gear. We’re still at the back end of winter and this is a great time to get some savings on that kind of stuff because not many people are buying it right now.
Take advantage of this low-season and grab some really hot prices – especially online.
We found one place where we were able to find sleeping bags, camping tents and if you’re feeling like living in luxury you can even pick up an air mattress.
Depending on the weather you might need to get some specialist clothing too. You don’t have to look too much like a dag, but some waterproofs that work will keep you dry and comfy whilst still keeping your cool fashion sense.
Here’s a video from one of my own personal most muddy and wet festivals ever – Glastonbury 2000. I was actually in the crowd for this Coldplay gig, it was before they really hit it big and now they are one of the biggest bands in the world. A great moment, but a really wet one – I was up to my knees in water watching these guys:
Something that might be of interest to you which I’m betting you haven’t thought of is to look at taking a water filter, because depending on how close the facilities are and how expensive the refreshments are you might find it useful to be able to collect rain water, or ditch water and turn it into drinking water!
So anyway, you’ve been warned! Get out there and gear up for the summer festival season!
Cypress Hill were recently added to the soundwave lineup, which may surprise some who are not familiar with the sounds of the hill as it is primarily a metal festival.
Those who have seen the Hill live however will know that they are sure to go down very well with the metal crowd as their set can be engineered to play very heavy with a full metal band backing them.
Cypress hill were a very prominent sound from my teens all the way through to my thirties and they always manage to take me all the way back to high school whenever I spin the black sunday record.
I was lucky enough to have seen them perform live at the Glastonbury festival in around 2000, i cant remember which year exactly as it’s been a while!!
They performed a very metal set and really tore the main stage down. Their set was deserving of a much later headlining slot than the mid-afternoon time they were given, but that didnt stop them from owning the afternoon!
Anyway, now I’m living here in australia it was awesome when I heard they were coming down under to play the soundwave festival. I missed out on tickets but im really hoping they do a sidewave gig.
